TELO’S JOURNAL

And why shouldn’t I be optimistic. Paps could tell us the stories, but did he really believe? Did he really understand that those stories might not have been complete fabrications. There is a grain of truth in each, and as I would listen — absorb and memorize — those tales I could have closed my eyes and tasted the treasure at the far end of those epic journeys. Close my eyes now? Not a chance? Miss this? Miss the dark pages of my own little tale. Some day I’ll be telling this to a new brood of tots, but then I’ll be the hero of those stories, no?

TRANSCRIPT

[Time has passed in the tangle of wires, and Grim is losing what little resolve he once had. Telo attempts to bolster his spirits as they trek onwards.]

GRIM: It’s just… I’m not so sure about this anymore. We must have been walking for hours by now. Are you sure he knows?

TELO: Hush! He knows. Besides, it’s only been.. uh… one hour. And don’t you remember… in stories… the best stuff is always hidden where no one else thinks to look.
