The Panels

Sorted by Storyline…

For ease of sorting, you’ll find each strip has a four digit code: The first two digits indicate the “story/chapter” to which it belongs while the second two digits are it’s sequence. Thus, the best place to start (currently) is panel 0101.

Links to the ordered list of stories below will be added as the strips are published. As more content comes online, I’ll be adding depth and metadata to help find particular stories, topics, or whatever more easily. For now, there are few enough strips to just browse.

Concept / Pilot Panels (but, not really part of the story)

Like anything I seem to do, this whole story and mezzaverse idea came to me in a flash of dislocated insight as I was walking the dog. Really. I was out strolling around the park in 5C weather and wind and by the time I got back to the house I pulled out a sketchbook and within half-an-hour had drafted character concepts and a bit of a rough overlying plot. I can’t even claim that I was considering doing a webcomic, but it just seemed like such a workable idea and by the time I’d dug into it… well… here we are: I spent a few days refining my doodles into the images and ideas you’ll see in the panels below. They are one-offs, and the character models are a little bit inconsistent with the stuff in the story-proper, but whatever: rule number one of comics is draw, publish, and move on. Only forward. As such, you’ll notice that these all have the code zero-zero-something which pretty much means that they don’t belong in the story anywhere and — after I’d displayed them to my wife — have been told don’t really make much sense on their own. But enjoy, if you dare.
